So

Taught by TA Captain Bigballs | Edit | Permalink | Tagged as big thinking, big thoughts, so, thinking out loud, | 1 Comments »

A word used to begin a sentence, allowing the speaker another 2-3 seconds of thought before they begin the actual answer to a question or explanation of an idea

As in...
Dave: What is the point of having a vision statement if our CEO is legally blind?

Martha: So, the way I understand it is that a vision statement is actually a longterm target for either goals or growth, so I think we're taking it a little too literally. Maybe day 2 of orientation will clear that up.

Actually, this definition sucks. Let me add my own. You can also share "so" with a friend or share it on Twitter.

You will adopt "so" instantly after hanging around someone who uses it regularly because at first it will seem like a smart way to gather your thoughts before speaking but at the same time responding to a question immediately thereby making you look like you're incredibly with it. A few days later you will drop "so" from your vocabulary and just stare back at the person in silence when they ask you question thereby pushing them to the verge of tears due to the intensity of your squinting eyes. Then, and only then, will you proceed to answer the question.
