A way of getting someone fired by making it look like part of a logical, unbiased process.

As in...
"We did a drains up on the figures, Mike, and we've reached some pretty harsh conclusions" = We are about to fire you.

"We're going to do a drains up on the whole project" = The party is over. Clear out your desk.
