Going through the motions. The act of doing something for absolutely no reason other than to put a checkbox on a form that says you did something. Typically takes the form of managers meeting with employees to get feedback on how to improve things at the company.

As in...
Don't waste your time with those productivity meetings - those only exist so managers can check a box and keep Corporate off their backs.
